Training

Training is held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at John Oxley Reserve.

Due to availability of the grounds on these days, training for the 2022/23 season will commence on Tuesday, 4th October 2021.

  • 5:00pm – 6:00pm for U6 – U10 athletes.

  • 5:00pm – 6:30pm for U11 – U17 athletes.

There will also be training for U11 – U17 on Sunday afternoons from 4pm – 6pm, commencing on 7 August 2022. This time will change to 5pm – 7pm as the weather warms up.

Additional sessions will be advertised from time to time during the season. The Centre has a number of qualified Coaches who attend these sessions. Parents are asked to support our coaches by assisting during the session and putting the equipment away. We are in need of more coaches! Should you be interested in undertaking a Coaching course, please let the Centre Manager or Coaching Coordinator know.

ALL PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE THE INTRODUCTION TO COACHING (ITC) COURSE.

How to Become a Coach?

We are actively encouraging parents to become involved. There are different levels of accreditation requiring different levels of commitment, time wise. All courses are conducted in a very supportive and encouraging environment and you can be assured of any amount of help to make sure you pass. Coaches involved in the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme gain increased status, improved coaching skills, and confidence resulting in long term benefits for them, their athletes and their athletics centres. Courses are largely practical, with emphasis on better organisation of practice, appropriate methods of skill learning and development, correcting techniques, appropriate conditioning methods, and performance analysis.
