Conditions

  • To gain attendance points, the athlete must compete in at least four of the five events per Centre competition meet, unless injured during competition.
  • Attendance at 70% of the official competition days is required for an athlete to be eligible for a trophy.
  • Attendance at Regional Relay Championships and Regional Championships is not included in the number of weeks used to calculate the 70%. Athletes will however receive a competition point if they do attend, which goes towards their overall points. Therefore this season, an athlete who is registered form Week 1 must attand at least 16 weeks of competition to be eligible for a trophy.
  • Athletes who are absent from competition due to selection in a school representative team at district level or above in any sport, are eligible to receive attendance points. Please notify the Chief Recorder if this occurs.
  • Improvement points can not be gained from competitions not conducted by the centre (i.e. Regional or Association days, including Pentathlons). They will be gained however from competitions that replace our normal weekly competition, e.g. our Centre visit to Aspley Little Athletics Centre.

Trophies and Awards

Attendance
Attendance Trophies will be awarded to athletes who have a 70% attendance record.

Age Most Improved
First, Second and Third Most Improved/Attendance Trophies, based on the above system, will be awarded to athletes (boys and girls) in each age group. Attendance Trophies will be awarded to athletes who did not receive an Improvement/Attendance Trophy, but who have a 70% attendance record. No athlete will receive both.

Overall Most Improved
Awarded to the boy and girl who receive the highest number of points based on improvement alone. Attendance points are not included.

Age Champion Trophy
An athlete in each age group, boys and girls, will be receive an age Champion Trophy based on their performance in each event during the season. This is calculated by a points type system similar to a pentathlon. (this is not attendance and improvement. Athletes must meet attendance requirement to qualify.)

McDonalds Achievement Awards
One of the aims of Little Athletics is of course to improve the athletic performance of its members. To provide incentive for children to improve, we have a system of performance level indicators and achievement awards which is sponsored by McDonalds. Each child is given a ticket showing their performance in each event for each competition day. These are pasted in their result book provided at the start of the season. They also receive an Achievement Card which is presented to the Recording Officer for the child's age group when a specific level (green, red or blue) has been achieved. To receive these certificates, the athlete must reach the relevant level in all events applicable for their age group in THREE event groups e.g. Hurdles, Sprints and Throws. The maximum number of certifiactes an athlete can receive is three - 1 green, 1 red, 1 blue.
