Introduction

Established in 1977, Strathpine Little Athletics Centre is located in the Pine Shire (north of Brisbane). During the 2001/2002 season we had 410 Athletes registered - the largest in Queensland. Strathpine's home is John Oxley Reserve, Cnr Ogg and Dohles Rocks Road, Murrumba Downs, approximately 30 kilometres north of Brisbane. Click here for a map. In 2005/06 registration numbers were 330.

Strathpine Little Athletics Centre actively supports the Little Athletics aim to develop children of all abilities by promoting positive attitudes and a healthy lifestyle through family and community involvement in athletics activities.

A steering Committee was formed during 1977 to look at establishing a Little Athletics Centre in the Strathpine area. In September 1977, the Strathpine Little Athletics Centre was established at the Pine Rivers High School oval. The Centre was the twelfth to be established in Queensland and is presently the eighth oldest surviving Centre in the State.

From those humble beginnings, the Centre flourished and recorded 293 registered athletes in the 1990/91 season. This led to the eventual transfer of the Centre to John Oxley Reserve at the start of the 1992/93 season where the Centre has continued to grow.

A split competition season is held from early September until the end of March. The competitions are held on Saturday mornings at the beginning of the season, and on Friday evenings for the remainder. There is a three week break from competition during the Christmas holidays. Details for the 2007/2008 season can be found in the Calendar.
