Footware
Footwear protects the feet, and helps absorb the jarring that may be experienced in the jumping events, particularly triple jump. In addition shot put and discus are performed on concrete circles which may damage the feet of athletes if shoes are not worn. Shoes designed specifically for other sports eg. soccer are not allowed.
SPIKE SHOES WITH OR WITHOUT BLANKS ARE NOT ALLOWED FOR COMPETITORS UP TO & INCLUDING THE UNDER 10 AGE GROUP.
Rules for wearing Spikes:
Spikes shoes are to be put on only when actually at an event immediately prior to the start of the event and removed immediately after the event and before leaving at the completion of the event. During field events, athletes shall return by direct route to the start of their run up. Athletes shall conduct themselves in an orderly fashion at all times whiles wearing spiked shoes. Spikes shall be removed immediately at the completion of competition. Athletes who do not comply with these rules when reminded of their responsibility, will be suspended from using spikes for a period of two weeks and in the event of a second infringement, shall not be permitted to wear spikes for the remainder of the season. Remember, spikes can injure not only yourself, but other athletes.
